NEWSLETTER SUMMER 2020 The ongoing pandemic has managed to cancel most of the Spring show season and has impacted all of us who participate in Agritourism on our farms. It has also impacted many of MABA’s in person activities thru the Spring and Summer. The MABA Board has been meeting regularly by phone and while many activities such as our Spring Seminar and Summer picnic have had to be postponed or cancelled, the Board has been busy working on many exciting future endeavors. We have the following updates to share: Educational Seminar: Our Spring Educational Seminar, A Judges Perspective with Wade Gease originally scheduled for 5/30&31/2020 has been been put on hold. In light of the persistent nature of the pandemic, a specific date has not yet been determined. As soon as details have been finalized, the membership will be notified. Fiber Festival: In the interest of the health and well-being of the public, our, members, vendors, and animals, the Fiber Festival committee has made the difficult decision to move the 2020 Fiber Festival to an all virtual format. Several large Spring festivals (such as Maryland Sheep and Wool) have had great success using this format in the current climate. Details are still being worked on and information will be communicated as soon as it becomes available. (add anything pertinent that Kathy G supplies) HALTER SHOW: You asked and we listened so SAVE THE DATE! The MABA Board is excited to announce that we have joined with PAOBA to co-host halter shows in the Spring of 2021 and 2022. The 2021 show will be held April 9-11 (confirmation pending) at the Grange Fairgrounds in Centre Hall PA. Details will be available as soon as confirmation (which has been submitted) has been obtained. 2022 dates have yet to be determined but we are looking at April 2022 and the location will be closer to ‘home’ for most MABA members. Watch your email, the MABA Facebook page and website for details coming soon. This effort will take a village!! We need all hands on deck! Please consider volunteering and/or sponsoring to help ensure the success of MABA and PAOBA in this exciting new venture. Summer Picnic – The summer picnic will not be able to be held this year. We hope to see many of you as soon as it is safe to resume in person large group activities. Everyone please stay safe for what looks to be a challenging rest of the summer if not rest of 2020.
