Call to Order

The meeting was call to order by a motion made by Jackie Mathiason and second by Kathy Brown at 1:30 PM. The meeting was held at the Howard County Fairgrounds.


Reading of the previous minutes.

Motion was made by Brett Weeks second by Kathy Brown to except the previous minutes.

Treasurer Report

Elissa Moore read the treasurer report. 

Balance Sheet as of January 14, 2018.

            Total Liabilities and Equity: $40,393.10

Motion to except the treasurer report was made by Jennie Mezick second by Jackie Mathiason. Body approved.


Welcome Members and Guests.

President Bryan Mindte welcomed everyone to the meeting. He gave a special thanks to Phil Liske and all of the outgoing board members for their work and dedication to MABA. The new board was introduced.

Fiber Festival Report

Committee Chair Kathy Graziani reported that the fiber festival was a great success. They had 66 venders. Profit from the fiber festival was $5880.00. Next year’s fiber festival is planned for November 10th and 11th 2018. There was discussion on how to best advertise this event. Body also talked about the possibility of heating the other buildings during the event. The committee will meet and report back to the board of directors.


General Discussion

President Bryan Mindte reported that the new board would be meeting to discuss the following topics: a plan to bring back new members, possible spring halter or fleece show, continuing education for the members and an emergency plasma list.  



After a discussion on updated the bylaws a motion was made by Brett Weeks second by Jackie Mathiason approved by the body to form a new bylaw committee to review and present changes to the bylaws.


New Member

President Bryan Mindte introduced new associate member Nancy Lutz from Dairy Aire Fine Suri Alpaca Fiber.



A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Jackie Mathiason second by Elissa Moore at 2:30 PM.
